RESIDENTIAL STREET SWEEPING

Residential sweeping begins every spring and typically ends in early July. This annual program is designed to ensure clean and environmentally friendly neighborhood streets. Each year, crews sweep over 4,100 miles of residential roadways and remove around 1,000 tons of debris.

Note: The 2023 Residential Sweeping Program has been completed. Please check back here in late March to see the approximate 2024 dates for sweeping in your area.

Please note that "No Parking" signs will be posted in most sweeping neighborhoods. Not every pole or every street will have one. Cars will not be towed for the sweeping program. However, sweeping trucks cannot return to re-sweep areas where cars were parked. Click on "Additional Information" below for additional Parking suggestions.

An accessible Street Sweeping application for persons with visual disabilities is provided on this page.

To check the schedule for your neighborhood, please type your address into the box on the map below. Then, click on the colored area of the map. The anticipated sweep dates will pop up. Those dates are approximate and can be affected by weather, amount of debris collected, equipment availability and other variables. To see the entire sweeping schedule in a table, click on the pull-down arrow at the bottom of the map.

The purple colored areas are those that the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has determined are in sensitive watersheds and receive priority sweeping.
