Community Action Agency
The Community Action Agency is the federally mandated anti-poverty program in Montgomery. The mission of the Community Action Agency is to coordinate local, State, federal and private resources through the development of community partnerships to help low- income individuals and families. Through its programs and partnerships, the CAA helps low-income residents acquire useful skills, and gain access to education and employment opportunities to achieve economic self sufficiency. In conjunction with its governing Community Action Board (CAB), CAA conducts community-wide assessments, develops anti-poverty strategies, provides contract management and monitoring with community-based partners, promotes advocacy on behalf of low-income populations in the County to eliminate poverty. CAA is the grantee for the Montgomery County Head Start Program.
