Internships

Montgomery County Government’s Internship Program, administered by the Office of Human Resources (OHR), is a work‐based learning opportunity that emphasizes professional development and teaches important workforce skills. The program enables you to learn about local government, develop career awareness, acquire soft skills, and draw connections between the materials you may have learned in classroom setting with work performed in a public service environment.

There are many paths to public service, and Montgomery County Government (MCG) offers a wide variety of occupational fields that you can explore as an intern:

  • Clerical / Administrative
  • Environmental
  • General Professional
  • Health Care / Social Service
  • Information Technology
  • Legal

The majority of MCG’s internship opportunities are unpaid, and applicants are encouraged to contact educational institutions and other non‐profit organizations to apply for assistance as needed. Department internships with MCG may be available in both paid and unpaid opportunities. Candidates should inquire with departments directly on whether a specific opportunity is paid or unpaid.
