The Montgomery County Correctional Facility (MCCF) Library serves the incarcerated population and the jail's professional staff. The library, located in the Correctional Facility at 22880 Whelan Lane in Boyds, is not open to the public. The branch manager is Linda Curvey-Brown.
The MCCF Library helps inmates find recreational, educational, and legal materials to improve and enrich their lives, enabling successful reentry into the community. The library holds approximately 15,000 books, including materials in several languages. As mandated by Maryland and Federal law, the MCCF Library provides select legal resources in print for inmates researching their active cases or matters of incarceration. A librarian conducts online searches of statutes and case law.
Inmates visit the library to borrow books and to do legal research. Word-processing computers are available to inmates; Internet access is not available.
Volunteers from the community support and advocate for library services to the incarcerated by serving on the Correctional Facility Library Advisory Committee. If you are interested in joining the committee, please contact Linda Curvey-Brown at 240-773-9914.
