MoComCon 2018 Art Contest

Prizes

  • All entries will be displayed at the Silver Spring Library during the month of January.
  • Art will be judged on creativity, style, and appeal.
  • Prizes will be awarded to 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd place winners in child (gr K-5), teen (gr 6-12), and adult (ages 18+) categories.
  • Winners will be notified by email or phone in mid-January.
  • Prizes will be awarded and winners formally recognized during the 2018 MoComCon on January 27 at Silver Spring Library.
  • In February, your artwork will be returned to the library listed on the entry form and must be picked up between Feb 15–March 15. We cannot guarantee its availability after that date.

Preschool Coloring Sheets

  • Preschoolers can participate by completing and submitting a coloring sheet before 4:00 pm, Sunday, January 7, 2018.
  • Completed preschool coloring sheets will be displayed throughout the month of January at the local MCPL branch where they were entered, and become the permanent property of MCPL.
  • No prizes will be awarded to preschool coloring sheets.

2018 Cosplay Contest Information

Dress up as your favorite character from any fandom, book, television show or movie, or invent your own original character!

Contestants must pre-register on the 3 rd Floor starting at 11 am (limit: 20 entrants per age group).

Contestants will be judged and prizes awarded according to age group (0–12, 13–17, 18+).

All contestants must report to the contest area on the 3rd floor, with their numbered badge, no later than 3:15 pm. Contest begins promptly at 3:30 pm and may run until 4:30 pm.

Guidelines

  • There will be a 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd prize awarded in each age group.
  • Age groups are 0–12, 13–17, and 18+. A parent or caregiver 18+ must sign the entry form for all contestants 17 & under.
  • Contestant must be present to claim prize or it will be forfeited.
  • All judges' decisions are final.
  • All costumes must be appropriate for an all-ages event.
  • No weapons, including replica and costume pieces, will be allowed inside of the event.
  • Attendees must adhere to all MCPL Guidelines Governing the Use of Public Libraries and Guidelines for Behavior.
