The Inspector General directs the activities of the Office of the Inspector General subject to a Work Plan. The Work Plan covers the Inspector General's 4-year term, and must be adopted within 6 months after appointment or reappointment. The Inspector General may amend the plan during a term.
The Inspector General must consider recommendations and may seek suggestions for the Work Plan from the County Executive, the County Council, the heads and employees of County agencies and departments, employee organizations, and individual citizens. The Inspector General has created an Inspector General Advisory Group which provides objective and independent commentary to assist the Inspector General in developing annual work plans for audits and investigations. The Inspector General will conduct additional investigations that are not specifically identified in the published work plan when the Inspector General believes such investigations are warranted.
The Inspector General must release the work plan to the public.
