About the Center
The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center is the local government office for the Bethesda, Cabin John, Chevy Chase, Friendship Heights, Garrett Park, Glen Echo, North Bethesda, Potomac and Rockville communities. We bring "small town" responsiveness to all communities that we serve. Our philosophy is to treat the community as partners in this endeavor.
The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center is one of five satellite government centers located throughout Montgomery County. The B-CC Center has a long history as a facilitator and catalyst for community services in downtown Bethesda.
The Center functions as a town hall and civic gathering space, with meeting rooms available for public use. Several non-profit organizations provide programs at the Center that benefit the local community - including lectures, senior exercise classes, mediation training, family and youth counseling, and computer classes. The Center also includes a children's day care facility.
The Center's director is appointed by the County Executive and is responsible for strengthening communication between the community and County agencies; coordinating interagency action; and recommending policies and programs to benefit the local community within the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Services Area - which includes the Bethesda-Chevy Chase, North Bethesda-Garrett Park, and Potomac Planning Areas and the City of Rockville. The director oversees services in the Bethesda Urban District provided under contract by the Bethesda Urban Partnership.
The Center is home to the Western Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board, a 19-member, appointed County board which advises the County Executive and County Council on local service needs and policies. Advisory Board members represent business and residential interests in the B-CC Services Area.
The Center has been located in Bethesda since 1979. When the Center first opened its doors, it was housed in the Reference Room at the Bethesda Regional Library on Arlington Road. In the early 1980's both the Library and the Center needed additional space and the Center moved to Woodmont Avenue. In December, 1996 the Center moved to a brand new County office building located in the heart of downtown Bethesda, near the Bethesda Metro Center and above the County's Bethesda Center parking garage. The Center is located on the Plaza level of the Metropolitan apartment complex that includes a 308 unit mixed income project owned by the Housing Opportunities Commission.
The Center is located at 4805 Edgemoor Lane, Bethesda, MD 20814. The Center is open on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The phone numbers are 240-777-8200 (voice), 240-777-8212 (TDD) and 240-777-8211 (FAX). The Center's e-mail address is firstname.lastname@example.org
