Montgomery County also offers strong personal and real property
tax incentives for new and expanding companies, and offers personal income
tax incentives for locating in one of the County’s enterprise zones.
Montgomery County does not impose a corporate income tax.
Manufacturing equipment is exempt from Maryland personal property taxes,
and Maryland's tax rate on non-manufacturing equipment is significantly
less than its neighboring competitors.
New Jobs Tax Credit: State and County provides substantial
credits on real and personal property taxes for businesses relocating
or expanding into at least 5,000 square feet of newly constructed space
that has been previously unoccupied, and creating 25 full-time positions
within a 24 month period. The tax credit is a 6 year program, in the first
two years the company shall receive an 80% tax credit, in the next two
years a 60% tax credit, and in the last two years a 40% tax credit. Job
Creation Tax Credit: Entitles employers to receive a state tax credit
for jobs created within a 24 month period provided a minimum of 25 new
jobs are created in Montgomery County. Eligible employers may receive
up to $1,000 per each new job created.
Enterprise Zone Tax Credits: Substantial property
and income tax credits are available to companies locating in the Silver
Spring and Wheaton Enterprise zones (these should be linked
