The Arc of Montgomery County
The ARC of Montgomery County focused attention on their recycling efforts last year and saw their recycling rate increase from 36 percent in 2004 to 80 percent in 2005.

Recycling 70 percent of their waste in 2005, Arcola Health and Rehabilitation Center shows that they care for the environment.

Asbury Methodist Village
Asbury Methodist Village recycled 55 percent of their waste stream in 2005. In an effort to continue their efforts, Asbury recently completed a series of educational seminars to residents and employees to raise awareness of their recycling program.
- Balmar Printing and Graphics
In 2005, Balmar Printing and Graphics recycled 91 percent of their waste, significantly more than they recycled in 2004 when their recycling rate was 80 percent.
- Benihana Restaurant, Bethesda
Recycling is taken seriously at Benihana Restaurant in Bethesda. Recycling 77 percent in 2004, recycling remained a priority in 2005 which resulted in increased recycling efforts and a 2005 recycling rate of 82 percent.
- The Bureau of National Affairs, Inc.
The Bureau of National Affairs, Inc. continues to show their excellence in recycling by recycling 92 percent of their waste in 2005. Every year since 2001, the Bureau of National Affairs has recycled more than 90 percent of their waste stream, well above the County’s 50 percent recycling goal.
- Congregation Har Shalom
Congregation Har Shalom continues to excel in their recycling efforts and recycled more than 61 percent of their waste in 2005.

Congressional Country Club
Congressional Country Club recycled 50 percent of their waste in 2005, up from 29 percent in 2004. Employees reuse office furniture, use durable napkins, flatware, cups and glasses. Grasscycling is their preferred way to handle grass clippings.

EU Services
EU Services continues to excel in their recycling efforts and recycled 91 percent of their waste in 2005. Since 2001, EU Services has annually recycled 84 percent or more of their total waste generation.
- EuroMotorcars, Germantown
In 2005, Euro Motorcars, Germantown recycled 55 percent of their waste stream, exceeding the County’s 50 percent recycling goal over the past two years. In addition, Euro Motorcars also purchases products made from recycled materials such as tissues and paper towels.
- The Frost School
The Frost School dramatically improved their recycling effort over the past year by increasing their recycling rate from 6 percent in 2004 to almost 76 percent in 2005.
- The German School–Washington, D.C., Bethesda
Recycling 40 percent of their waste stream in 2004 was just the beginning for the German School – Washington, D.C. in Bethesda. They overhauled their recycling program by obtaining color-coded recycling containers and educational materials. After completing staff and student awareness, the school saw their recycling rate increase to 63 percent in 2005.
- Houston’s Restaurant, Store #204
After recycling just 6 percent of their waste in 2004, Houston’s Restaurant in Bethesda improved their recycling program, and as a result, their recycling rate increased to almost 58 percent in 2005.
- Howard Hughes Medical Institute
Recycling at or above the County’s recycling goal for the past three years, Howard Hughes Medical Institute continues to demonstrate their excellence in recycling by achieving a recycling rate of 78 percent in 2005.
- JBG Commercial Management for 1 and 5 Choke Cherry Road
JBG Commercial Management continues to show their commitment to recycling by implementing successful recycling programs in their office buildings located at 1 and 5 Choke Cherry Road in Rockville. Combined, these two locations have recycled more than 50 percent of their waste stream over the past 5 years, and recycled almost 73 percent in 2005.
- Landon School Corporation
The Landon School in Bethesda recycled 57 percent of their waste stream in 2005, up from 51 percent in 2004

Lockheed Martin Corporate Headquarters
Recycling 57 percent in 2005, Lockheed Martin Corporate Headquarters in Bethesda continues to showcase its dedication to recycling.
- Manhattan Auto Body
Manhattan Auto Body recycled almost 58 percent of their waste stream in 2005.
- Buchanan Partners for the Merit Building, 9055 Comprint Court
Recycling at the Merit Building in Rockville continues to excel due to the efforts of the property management company, Buchanan Partners. Educating all of the tenants in the building and providing a convenient recycling program resulted in a recycling rate of 81 percent in 2005.
- Mother of God School
For the past four years, the Mother of God School has been a model for private schools in Montgomery County. Last year alone, the students and staff recycled 79 percent of their waste.
- NCR Corporation
NCR Corporation has placed a high emphasis on recycling. Thanks to the dedication of Mr. Tony Durso and all of their employees, NCR Corporation recycled 80 percent of their waste stream in 2005.
- Northrop Grumman Denro Systems
Northrop Grumman Denro Systems recycled more than 50 percent of their waste for two years in a row. In 2005, Northrop Grumman Denro Systems achieved a recycling rate of 57 percent.
- Passage to India
A small restaurant with a high recycling rate, Passage to India continues to excel in their recycling accomplishments. For the third year in a row, Passage to India in Bethesda recycled more than 50 percent of their waste with a 93 percent recycling rate in 2005. To support waste reduction efforts, the restaurant uses cloth napkins and reusable glassware.
- Pettit Management Services, Inc. for Flower Hill Professional Center and Flower Hill Shopping Center
Together, the Flower Hill Professional Center and Flower Hill Shopping Center recycled almost 62 percent of their waste in 2005, up from 56 percent in 2004. Pettit Management Services provides the tenants with a convenient recycling program, including labeled recycling containers to make it easier for all employees to recycle properly.
- Saks Fifth Avenue
Recycling 36 percent of their waste in 2003 led Saks Fifth Avenue to reconfirm their commitment to recycling by educating all of their staff. As a result, their recycling rate improved to 58 percent in 2004 and 59 percent in 2005.
- Sandy Spring Friends School
Another excellent private school for recycling in Montgomery County. Sandy Spring Friends School recycled 63 percent of its waste in 2005, up from 30 percent in 2004.
- Spirent Communications
In 2005, Spirent Communications achieved their highest recycling rate during the past five years. Spirent Communications recycled 62 percent of their waste stream in 2005, an increase from 54 percent in 2004.
- Thales Communications, Inc.
Thales Communications, Inc. recycled almost 52 percent of their waste stream in 2005, compared to just 15 percent in 2001.
- United States Department of Health and Human Services
For the past five years, the United States Department of Health and Human Services got agonizingly close to recycling 50 percent of their waste stream. However, it wasn’t until last year that they exceeded that challenge and recycled 53 percent of their waste in 2005.
- Washington Christian Academy/Colesville Baptist Church
For the fourth straight year, the Washington Christian Academy and Colesville Baptist Church in Silver Spring excelled in their recycling efforts and recycled over 81 percent of their waste in 2005.
