Awards: 2001 Excellence in Recycling at Multi-Family Properties

Awards given by Solid Waste Services

Awarded to multi-family properties for their recycling efforts.

  • Aspenwood Senior Living Community (137 units)
    Aspenwood Senior Living Community in Silver Spring achieved a 78% recycling rate in 2000 and offered training sessions on recycling to staff and residents.
  • Barclay Apartments (157 units)
    Most Innovative Recycling Program- The Barclay Apartments in Chevy Chase redesigned their outdoor collection system to make it more convenient for residents to recycle.
  • Chevy Chase Lake Apartments, North (67 units)
    The Chevy Chase Lake Apartments, North achieved a 53% recycling rate in 2000 and is requesting additional recycling containers due to increased resident participation.
  • The Colony at Germantown (768 units)
    Most Improved - The Colony at Germantown's recycling program improved from a "D" rating on their inspection in 1998 to an "A" rating in 2001.
  • Hampton Point Apartment Homes (352 units)
    The Hampton Point Apartment Homes in Silver Spring achieved a 55% recycling rate for 2000.
  • The Irene (512 units)
    The Irene's recycling rate in 2000 was 67%. In addition, the Chevy Chase complex has designed a mixed paper recycling program to further increase recycling rates.
  • Randolph Square Apartments (120 units)
    In 2000, Randolph Square Apartments in Rockville recycled 45% of their trash and has strived for the 50% goal by adding additional recycling containers throughout the property.
