Affiliated Property Management
Affiliated Property Management manages six multi-family
properties in Montgomery County. Their property managers are responsive to County recycling recommendations and proactive in soliciting materials to improve recycling programs and educate residents.

Andrew Kim House
The residents at Andrew Kim House recycled 42 percent of their waste stream in 2006. Andrew Kim House staff is committed to maintaining clean and well labeled collection areas and monitors all recycling containers, including those in the mail rooms.

Aspenwood Senior Living Community
Aspenwood Senior Community recycled 53 percent of their waste, consistent with past recycling performance. Their excellent recycling rate is due in large part to staff diligence, monitoring, and commitment to maintaining a quality recycling program.

Avalon at Grosvenor Station
The Avalon at Grosvenor Station consistently achieves a high recycling rate, and in 2006, it recycled 61 percent of its waste. Property Manager Michael Carbone’s hard work is refle cted in his staff and in a well organized and monitored recycling collection system. Resident rules and guidance
have helped keep contamination to a minimum and participation high.

Bedford Court Sunrise Senior Living
With an involved resident population and a management team that maintains an excellent recycling program, Bedford Court Sunrise recycled 56 percent of its waste in 2006. Not a one time achievement, Bedford Court consistently achieves a high recycling rate.

Copperfield Crossing Condominium
Copperfield Crossing has provided an excellent recycling program for its residents, who in turn have recycled 48 percent of their waste. The property has made signifi cant achievements in recycling and continues to improve its program.

The Gables on Tuckerman
Year after year, the Gables on Tuckerman recycles a large percentage of its waste stream, and their 2006 recycling rate was 55 percent. Clean and well labeled collection areas and collection containers, along with committed staff and educated residents, is its winning formula.

Kentlands View Condominium
Kentlands View Condominium recycled 51 percent of its waste in 2006. Their recycling containers are differentiated from refuse containers by color and labels. Recycling containers have multiple labels and posted signs, some of which were designed by the condominium, to ensure residents know what is recyclable.

MICA Condominium at Silver Spring Metro
Even though this property was faced with a major renovation and management changes, their 49 percent recycling rate in 2006 proves they never lowered the bar regarding the quality of their recycling program.

Riderwood Resident Recycling Committee
Riderwood’s Resident Recycling Committee, lead by Ms. Louise Macauley, has demonstrated boundless energy and remarkable creativity in educating residents on how to recycle and their responsibility to protect the environment.

Victory Terrace
Victory Terrace consistently recycles more than 50 percent of its waste, and it recycled 52 percent in 2006. Victory Terrace’s knowledgeable staff recognizes and appreciates the impact of recycling on their property and on the community at-large.

The Waterford Condominium Recycling Committee
The Waterford Condominium Recycling Committee is determined to help their condominium increase its recycling rate to 50 percent or higher. Original signage and educational materials and on-going resident education are some of the Jeff Aurich

Fox Run Apartments
Fox Run Apartments has made significant improvements to its recycling program, uniformly labeling their recycling and trash containers to help educate residents.

Highland House West Apartment Homes
Highland House West is working hard to increase the amount of materials that are recycled at the property. The property managers’ endorsement of the County’s recycling recommendations is resulting in signifi cant improvements to their recycling program.

The Riviera of Chevy Chase
Building Manager Mr. Philip Palmer attended a County recycling seminar and decided to turn a good program into an outstanding one. By taking advantage of available resources and frequently monitoring collection areas, the Rivera’s staff helped residents recycle almost 66 percent of their waste in 2006.

Rock Creek Terrace
Facing significant problems with their recycling program, property staff invested enthusiasm, time, and energy. Using County-provided resources as well as their own, they created an exemplary program that has had a positive impact on the Rock Creek Terrace resident community.

Willow Wood Condominium
Willow Wood Condominium continues to improve its recycling program. Each collection site now has a two yard container for mixed paper and cardboard in addition to wheeled carts for commingled materials, allowing for easy access by the residents.

Cornell Butler
Mr. Cornell Butler, Property Manager for Wayne Manchester Apartments, encourages residents to recycle by maintaining clean and well organized collection areas. His creative efforts to increase resident participation include establishing resident
recycling fl oor captains. He recently increased the number of recycling containers to accommodate the increase in materials recycled.

Juan Gonzalez
Mr. Juan Gonzalez, Housekeeping Supervisor at Grosvenor Park I, is recognized for innovative efforts that increased resident participation and reduced recycling container contamination. He built reusable three dimensional lobby displays, showing residents what materials
should and should not be recycled. The displays were created from discarded building and recyclable materials.

Shirley Lyles
Ms. Shirley Lyles is determined to educate fellow Kenwood Condominium residents on how to recycle. Her year-round effort to educate her neighbors regarding recycling is an example of how one person can make a significant difference.
