Resource Recovery Facility: Environmental Issues

Air | Water | Traffic | Noise | Ash

Environmental protection is at the forefront of everything done at the Montgomery County Resource Recovery Facility. Attention to our environment dates back to the original conception of the project, and continues to this day. It is reflected in the design of the Facility, the selection of the operating vendor, and the day to day operations.

All waste management methods can potentially have positive and negative effects on the environment. The challenge for communities today is to determine which techniques can both effectively handle their solid waste and offer maximum environmental safety. Using an integrated approach is the best way to control the adverse impacts of waste management while facilitating conservation of raw materials and natural resources, including fossil fuels. An integrated waste management system also promotes beneficial use of waste and provides flexibility, enabling a community to use a combination of options to maximize environmental protection and economic viability.
