RIDE ON REGIONAL FARE GUIDE

Effective June 27, 2004

Ride On regular fare increases from $1.20 to $1.25 effective June 27, 2004

In addition to these changes, Ride On is also cutting the price of its 2-Week Ride-AboutPass from $12.00 to $10 and increase the 20-Trip Tickets from $13.00 to $18.00. Our 20 Trip Tickets now have expiration dates. Tickets introduced with a new expiration date will begin to be sold 9 months before the ticket expires, then sold for the next  6 months. You will not be sold a ticket that is valid for less than 3 months.

Regional One Day Pass

Regional One Day Bus Pass, available from your bus operator for $3.00

Metrobus Flash Passes

Ride On accepts all eight types of Metrobus Passes (this includes the Regional One Day Bus Pass) starting June 20. All are good for a specified day. We honor the Metrobus Weekly Pass, Weekly Disabled Pass, Weekly Senior Pass, and two weekly bus/rail passes.

When you use a Metrobus Flash Pass and want to transfer to Ride On, just show the bus operator your Flash Pass. There is no additional payment of fare.

Metrobus Passes Accepted on Ride On:

* Regional One Day Bus Pass * Metrobus Weekly Pass

* Metrobus Weekly Disabled Pass * Metrobus Weekly Senior Pass

* Weekly Bus/Rail Short Trip Pass * Weekly Bus/Rail Fast Pass

Metrorail-to-Bus Transfers

Ride On accepts Metrorail-to-bus transfers with a 35¢ payment. The transfer must be from your originating Metrorail Station.
For example, if you take Metrorail from Bethesda Station to Shady Grove Station to transfer to a Ride On bus, remember to get the rail-to-bus transfer at the Bethesda Station. Show it to your bus operator at Shady Grove and pay 35¢ cents.

Seniors and persons with disabilities do not have to pay 35¢ when using the rail-to-bus transfer.

Commuter Rail

Ride On accepts MARC and VRE Transit Link Cards and the weekly and monthly passes of both rail systems.

Monthly Youth Cruiser Pass: $10 (for riders 18 years and younger)-No Changed

TRANSFERRING

* One free local bus transfer issued upon request with payment of fare.

* Local bus transfer good on any local bus route at any stop in the Washington Metro region until its expiration time.

* A transfer will not be issued when boarding with a Ride On 2-Week Pass or a Monthly Youth Cruiser Pass. Passengers who ride both Ride On and Metrobus should purchase a Metrobus Pass.

* Metrorail transfer accepted with 35¢ payment. No charge for senior/disabled.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q: What is Ride On doing that is different?

A: Ride On is making it much easier and simpler to use your Ride On bus and to transfer from Metrobus and Metrorail. Ride all day on either or both Ride On and Metrobus with a Regional One-Day Pass for $3.00 Ride On accepts seven other types of Metrobus Flash Passes and accepts rail-to-bus transfers with a 35 cents payment.

Q: Can I get a transfer when I board Ride On with a Metrobus Pass?

A: No. You do not need a transfer when boarding with the Metrobus Pass. Just show the bus operator your Pass.

Q: Are Metrobus and Ride On the only bus systems selling l the Regional One Day Pass?

A: No. All the local transit systems sell the Regional One Day Pass for $3.00.These transit systems are ART (Arlington County), Connect-A-Ride, DASH, Metrobus, The BUS (Prince George's County, CUE, Fairfax Connector, and Ride On.

Q: Does Ride On accept a rail-to-bus transfer?

A: Yes, with a 35 cents payment, but the transfer must be from your originating station. Show the operator your transfer and put 35 cents in the farebox.

Q: I'm a senior citizen. Do I have to pay 35 cents to ride the bus when I show the operator my rail-to-bus transfer?

A: No. The Metrorail transfer is free for senior citizens and disabled riders with the proper identification.

Q: Can I use my Ride On 20-Trip Ticket on Metrobus?

A: No. If you need to ride both systems, purchase a Metrobus Pass.

Q: Does Ride On accept Metrobus tokens?

A: Ride On accepts regular Metrobus tokens. Ride On does not accept Metro student tokens, however.

Q: Can I use my Ride On token or Metrobus token towards a purchase of the Regional One Day Pass?

A: Yes. Tokens are valued at $1.25, so you would need to add $1.75 more to the farebox.

Q: I used to pay 10 cents to get a Metrobus transfer. Do I still need to do that?

A: No. The 10 cents transfer is history. Metrobus transfers or any local bus transfers are free and good within the valid two hours shown on the transfer for round trips, stopovers, and changing buses.

Q: Can I get a transfer to Metrobus when I use my Ride On 20-Trip Ticket?

A: Yes. Just ask the Ride On bus operator for your transfer. It's valid for two hours after its punched.

Q: Can I board Metrobus with a Ride On token?

A: Yes. Metrobus accepts Ride On tokens. Tokens are valued at $1.25.

Q: Can I get a transfer to Metrobus with a Ride On's 2-Week Ride About Pass?

A: No. If you use both Ride On and Metrobus, purchase a Metrobus Flash Pass.
