| Montgomery County recently
received a new $1.3 million federal
grant for emergency communications equipment
that will improve career and volunteer
firefighter safety and enhance the County’s
emergency response capabilities. The
Assistance to Firefighters grant award
will fund critical emergency communications
equipment to enhance firefighter safety
and operational accountability, in addition
to improve direct dispatch capabilities
and first responder communications across
jurisdictions in the Washington Metropolitan
