Montgomery
County Public Libraries’ Mobile Van has been providing
services to children for over 25 years.
Day care
centers are visited in the mornings, where story
times are presented to classes while teachers
check out books on the Van.
Afternoons are spent
bringing the Van to low income housing communities,
where books, videos, magazines, picture
books, and homework assignment materials are available
for check out. Mobile Van serves communities
such as the Judy Center and Parkway Woods in the
afternoons.
The Van also represents the library department at many county celebrations:
truck days at schools; the Summer Reading Kickoff;
and parades. The Van is staffed by Susie Andrews, known to several
generations of children
as “Miss Susie”.
