Placing a Request
At the Marina home screen, choose “Montgomery County Department of Public
Libraries” on the drop down menu.
Patron Login Screen
- Enter your Montgomery County library card number.
- Click Submit Input.
Patron Main Menu
- Click Searching/Requesting from the center of the
screen.
- Choose book or periodical.
Search Menu
- Type search term and mark either author, title,
ISBN or subject
- Click Begin Searching.
Combined Results Screen
- Scroll down to find your requested item.
- Click the title to find more details if you need more information
to make sure you have the right thing.
- Click the Request button to reserve the title.
Create Request Screen
- Click yes to confirm that your name is correct.
- Select a pickup branch location from the pull down menu.
- Enter your email address - If you enter your email address, Marina will
notify you if your request is unfillable or expires. All other notification
will
come through Montgomery County when the book arrives. The notification
will
be by email
or printed notice.
- Click Submit Request.
- Wait for the Request Confirmed screen. You will get a request number.
This number is very important. Use this request number
to track your request.
- Click New Search to make another request.
- Click Search Results to view other titles
- Click Quit if you are finished.
If a title cannot be found in MARINA, we can search outside the MARINA
network, using OCLC. If you request later comes back
unfilled, we can also
try using OCLC
if you fill out the OCLC
request form.
Reviewing a Request
To enter MARINA:
- Type your entire barcode number at the prompt on the Patron
Login screen.
- Select “Review Your Requests” from the Patron Main Menu.
Status Information:
Pending
- The owning library is checking its shelves.
Shipped
- The item has been sent but has not reached Howard County yet.
Received
- The item has been received and will be available for pickup soon.
Returned
- The item has been returned to the loaning library.
Unfilled
- The item is unavailable through Marina.
Canceling a Request
To cancel a MARINA request from the Patron Main Menu:
- Click on Review
Your Requests.
Click the title you wish to cancel.
- Request Details screen
- Click Cancel Request.
At the "Are you sure you want to cancel this request? " screen,
click Yes - cancel request.
