Kewl Early-Bird Classes from the Winter Guide
There's something fun and exciting for each member of the family, but many of the following classes have a history of filling up early. Don't wait! Register for one of these great staff-recommended MCRD classes or browse the 2008 Winter Guide for something sure to your liking:

Parents: Kids Night Out, New Year's Eve
Ages 6-12: Kids, you're invited to a great New Year's Eve party and sleep-over! Parents, enjoy an entire New Year's Eve on your own, knowing that your children are having a safe, fun time. The evening starts with a pizza dinner and dessert. After dinner, enjoy a super fun-filled evening of games, sports, crafts and special events. At midnight, we will celebrate New Year's with snacks, music
and merriment followed by a giant sleep-over (girls and boys will be separated). New Year's Day will start with a healthy breakfast and some organized low-key activities. All participants must be picked up by 10 a.m. on Jan. 1. All participants must bring their own sleeping bags, pillows and personal necessities. Health forms will be mailed to you once you have registered. You will be required to bring the completed and signed form with you when you drop off your child. Must register by Dec. 17.

Youth Dance: No Stop Hip Hop for Kids
Ages 6-9: A high-energy, fun-filled dance class, packed with the latest hip hop choreography. Let your child move and groove to the latest Hip Hop music while learning this fun style of dance.

Cooking: Wine & Dine—Italian Wines and Fare
Ages 21 and above: Fresh from my return to Parma after attending the professional school at the Barilla Academie of Cooking, and I have a bunch of new ideas on my plate. This class will be splendid with Italian authenticity. Remember, in these classes we cook, clean up, then taste the three foods and a minimum of six wines. Take home the recipes. A $20 food and wine fee is due instructor at class time.

Wellness: Hatha Yoga With Rudra
Ages 6-9: Basic beginner's level class, but continuing students welcome. A physically challenging program. Develop agility, balance, muscle tone, endurance and vitality, reduce fatigue and aid in bringing relaxation to the body and mind. Learn new postures (Asana) each week. All classes taught in a progressive, modular concept to form a sequence for use in daily home practice. Wear non-restrictive clothing and bring a blanket/mat and bare feet to class.

Adult Art: Stone Sculpture
Ages 18 and above: Basic instruction in the use of stone tools and types of stones. Learn to hammer, chisel, sand and finish. Furnish your own tools, supplies and stone. Necessary tools will be discussed at the first class. Bring gloves and goggles/glasses to first glass for hands-on experience.

Wellness: How to Kick Sugar Cravings
Ages 16 and above: Do you find yourself in a constant struggle to conquer your cravings for sweets and other carbohydrates? The Sugar Blues have gotten a hold of you if you are prone to mood swings, have cravings for sweets and can't get a handle on your weight. Do you know that eating too much sugar will shorten your life? By the end of this seminar you will learn why (and most importantly how) you need to reduce your dependence on sugar. You will leave with delicious snack ideas, a few tasty treats and recipes that will make you forget about wanting high sugar content foods. Interactive nutrition workshops taught by a certified Holistic Health Counselor (HHC) with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology to integrate fitness, psychology and nutrition to balance mind, body and spirit.

Exercise: Philbin's Athletic Speed and Agility

Dance: Belly Dancing
Ages 11 and above: Beginner Level 1. Sophisticated . . . sensuous . . . spiritual . . . irresistible. This dance is suitable for all ages, shapes and sizes, and does not require any prior dance experience. Belly dancing provides an aerobic workout that is gentle on the body, trims the waist, and is exhilarating for the spirit. Students learn the foundations of ancient Middle Eastern dance movements and muscle control while exploring rhythms and melodies. Participants may dance barefoot or in soft dance shoes, and may wear leotard and tights or any comfortable form-fitting attire that permits instructor's viewing of the torso. Midriff baring is optional. Bring a scarf to tie around your hips.
