Punt, Pass & Kick Competition Sept. 29
Local competition to be held at Burtonsville Day as boys and girls aged 8-15 compete for the right to win the prestigious national event.
MCRD and Friends of Recreation are joining hands with the NFL to host the local competition for the 2007 Punt, Pass & Kick Sept. 29 during the Burtonsville Day celebration at Fairland Community Center. The competition will take place from 10 a.m.-noon. Kids may participate only one day.
The free competition is open to boys and girls aged 8-15 and allows the kids to showcase their talents in the core football exercises of punting, passing and kicking. Age classification is determined as of Dec. 31 of this year.
There are four age divisions: 8/9 years old, 10/11, 12/13 and 14/15. Boys and girls compete separately. Kids must have a birth certificate present.
The top finishers from each age group at local competition, such as this one at Fairland, advance to a sectional competition, where the top five scores from the pool of the sectional championships advance to the Redskins’ “team” championship.
The team winners will compete on the morning of the Redskins-Carolina Panthers game Nov. 26 at FedEx Field.
Ultimately, 32 winners nationwide, plus two parents or guardians, travel to the finals competition at an NFL Playoff game in January.
Kids can register by walking up to Fairland Community Center the morning of the competition. But you can also fill out this registration form and get more info at NFL Youth Football, or call MCRD at 240-777-6961.
Punt, Pass & Kick began in 1961 and has grown to 4 million competitors each year. PP&K is the NFL's oldest youth program.
