In the Computer Lab at Damascus Community Recreation Center members can take advantage of the high speed wireless Internet connection to register for Recreation Department classes, check their own email, or do research. The MS Office Professional software provides Word, Excel, Power Point and Access for a wide range of uses. The room is carpeted and quiet is maintained for a good working environment. No food or drink is permitted in this room. A 30 minute time limit may be enforced when all computers are being used and patrons are waiting. Lab rules are posted and check in/out is required. For children to use the computer lab, parents must sign a memo of understanding which states they are aware the lab is to be used for educational purposes and that they are directly responsible for their child’s internet access. There is no filtering system available and inappropriate use of the internet is traceable and will result in dismissal from the lab. The lab will be available for use when the center desk personnel are available to monitor it only. The lab does not provide supplies for printing or saving material. Children under the age of 8 are not permitted to enter the computer lab unless they are registered in a class program that is assigned to be taught in the lab.
