I. Early Morning Activities (before 8:30am)
- Early Bird Lap Swim
- Before School Team Practices
Expect that your activity is cancelled if snow or ice is covering your street where you live, check WTOP AM 1500 and WMAL AM 630 for all cancellations.
II. RMSC Practices:
When schools are closed due to weather conditions or other emergencies, all practices are cancelled. When Montgomery County Schools have a delayed opening, decisions about afternoon practices will be made by 2:00pm. Call the Pool for those decisions.
III. Lap/Rec Swim (afternoon & evening sessions)
If conditions improve, we will remain on the published schedule. However, if staff shortages occur, the Pool Operator will determine what areas/features will be closed until sufficient staff is available. Call the pool to check the availability of the program space or feature you are most interested in. The pool staff and their supervisors will make decisions about early closings if conditions deteriorate.
IV. Rental Groups:
- Kayak, Water Polo, Sunday Stroke Clinic
- Party/Meeting Room Rentals
The decision to cancel a rental group will be made jointly between the group representative and pool supervisor at least 2 hours prior to the start time. It is the responsibility of the renter to notify all members of their group of the cancellation.
V. MCPS Varsity Practices and Meets and other school rental groups:
When Montgomery County Public Schools announce late opening, early closing, or are closed for the next day, all school programs held at our pools will be cancelled.
VI. County Government Closings
When the Chief Administrative Officer declares the County Government closed, all programs are cancelled and (with the exception of several predetermined facilities), the MCRD Administrative Office, Recreation Service Centers, and all other facilities will be closed. The exception to this will be designated Recreation Community Centers and the Montgomery Aquatic Center, which will open for limited Lap/Rec Swim time only from 11:30am-6:00pm. If the situation improves and staff is available, the Lap/Rec Swim time may be extended until 8:30pm. Call the pool to be sure it is open.
