The Recreation Department's third annual Pooch Pool Party was held on Sunday, September 7th at the Wheaton-Glenmont Outdoor Pool. We closed the Pool to humans and opened it to dogs.
This year we had a Doggie Talent Show and "Doggie Survivor" with prizes courtesy of Dogtopia. PETCO and local businesses and the Montgomery County Foster and Adoption unit were on hand. Dr. Adam Jaffe of Montgomery Animal Hospital was on hand to answer questions (and provide canine first aid if needed).
The baby pool was reserved for dogs under 15 pounds. One of the large pools has a sloped "beach" entrance so that dogs could enter the water gradually. And there' was even another pool that was perfect for those "air dogs" who love jumping into the water to catch a ball!
An Officer from the Police Department's Animal Services Division was on hand to sell County Dog Licenses to Montgomery County residents upon written proof of a current rabies vaccination. All dogs must have had a written proof of a current rabies vaccination and dogs owned by County residents must have a current County Dog License before entering the pool.
We had over 300 dogs and their humans enjoying a day of swimming and fun from Toy Terriers to Great Danes. .
