Montgomery County's population has seen a tremendous growth in the past decade of its minority and immigrant population growing from 19% of the total population in 1990 to over 40% in 2001.
Recognizing these significant demographic changes, Montgomery County opened the Gilchrist Center for Cultural Diversity on September 8th, 2001. The Center provides activities and services to the County's diverse community and functions as a central point of contact for residents to County and other community services. It is committed to working closely with government agencies, community organizations and individual residents to ensure high customer service and to meet the needs of this very diverse community.
