DOCR Honor Guard Brochure
The Honor Guard unit of Montgomery County Department of Correction and Rehabilitation, Maryland (MCDOCR) are uniformed staff members who are highly motivated and maintain exceptionally high standards of appearance and conduct and show aptitude for ceremonial duty are considered and they have the honor of serving as an escort or performing drill exhibitions or ceremonial occasions to represent Montgomery County Government.
The primary purpose of the Honor Guard unit is to provide funeral honors for fallen comrades. Additionally, the department Honor Guard serves as ambassadors to the public, presenting a positive image of their services, and assisting with the recruiting effort.
The Honor Guard unit composed of staff who are carefully screened for their ability and physical dexterity. Only those uniformed staff members who are focused, disciplined, professional, highly motivated, intensely dedicated and maintain exceptionally high standards are part of the Honor Guard team.
Honor Guard Team
The MCDOCR Honor Guard unit is led by Lt. Mahogany. These outstanding public servants have served Montgomery County for over 20 years providing public safety to County residents. Currently, the Honor Guard unit has seven (7) members and four (4) members have served in the United States Military:

- Cpl. Broderick D. Francis (Army)
- Cpl. Carter T. Dwayne (Army)
- Cpl. Katherine M. Bower (Army)
- CDO. Edson A. Morales-Vache
For the past twenty (20) years, the MCDOCR Honor Guard has represents the County in various functions such as, Funerals/Interments, Memorial Ceremonies, Parades, Recruiting Workshops, Award Ceremonies, County Celebrations, Formal Functions, Community Events requiring a formal presence, and events requiring a Color Guard team.
Additionally, the Honor Guard participates in the Annual Fallen Officer’s Wreath Laying Ceremony with Honor Guard teams from the region. The Ceremony is followed by the Honor Guard Annual Competition.

Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Annual Meeting and Awards Lucheon December 13, 2023
DOCR Honor Guard attend COG Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon on December 13, 2023. Leaders from across the DMV including Montgomery County Co Montgomery County Councilmember and COG Board Chair Kate Stewart, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, and Prince William Board of County Supervisors Chair-elect Deshundra Jefferson.
Annual Fallen Officer’s Wreath Laying Ceremony 2023
This Year 2023, Montgomery County Department of Correction and Rehabilitation won the competition First Place.
