Timothy L. Firestine
Chief Administrative Officer
Timothy L. Firestine is currently serving as the Chief Administrative Officer for Montgomery County, Maryland. He has worked in Public Sector Financial Management for 28 years.
Tim began his career as Budget Officer for the Allegheny County Controller in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
Tim has spent most of his career with Montgomery County, Maryland where he worked in the Office of Management and Budget for 12 years before becoming the Director of the Department of Finance in 1991. In 2006 he was appointed Chief Administrative Officer of the County.
Mr. Firestine is a member of:
- The Maryland Government Finance Officer’s Association where he is past president;
- The Board of Investment Trustees for the Employee Retirement System for Montgomery County where he is the current Board Chair;
- GFOA where he serves as Vice Chair of the Debt Committee.
Tim was also an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland ’s Graduate School of Public Policy where he taught Public Finance.
Mr. Firestine has a BA in Political Science from Albright College in Reading , PA and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
