Cultivate, enhance and perfect your dance and music skills! Develop the confidence and poise that will last a lifetime. These exciting choices are taught by professionals in their craft, who are eager to share their knowledge. Campers attending full-day programs must bring their lunch.

Arts Camps

Ages 8 - 15: It's like having an art store at your fingertips! Come to the magical world of Art Destination, where you can experience art in a fun and creative ways. Use many mediums including clay (regular and polymer), wood items to build or paint, and more. Create works of art with watercolors, acrylics, oil pastels, chalk and more! Use a variety of materials (too many to list) and experiment to create your own fantastic artistic world. You can take it one week, or all summer, and never make the same thing twice! A $42 material fee is due to instructor on the first day of camp for each session registered. Bring a bag lunch and a smock. No camp July 4th. Ages 5 - 10: You will create lots of cool artwork inspired by the great outdoors in this beautiful setting. Artwork may include paper mache, mobiles, sculptures from natural and recycled materials, mosaics, painting in the style of famous artists, collage, fabric painting, and lots more! New crafts! Play lots of games, sports, and explore the park. On Wed. campers walk to the Bethesda pool adjacent to the park and must pass a swimming test or stay in the shallow end. Ages 6 - 12: Can't get enough drawing? Join us for a full day camp! The morning will be filled with crazy cartooning. Learn about facial expressions, mood, action, movement, jokes, sequences, and character development. In the afternoon, draw fish, horses, and many other scaly, furry or feathery friends! Please wear an old shirt or smock on the last day when we will create a wonderful pet-inspired chalk pastel illustration. Please bring a bag lunch and snacks. All supplies are included! Ages 6 - 12: Does your child love comics and cartoons? This camp will explore different kinds of cartooning. We will learn about facial expressions, mood, action, movement, jokes, sequences, and character development. On the final day, we will pull from what we have already learned to draw our very own large comic strip! All supplies are included. Ages 9-13: Lights, camera, drama! Leap into an unforgettable theater experience as we plan and produce a real stage production. Campers will participate in all aspects of the production from auditioning, choreography, improvisation, costuming, singing and even set construction. Daily rehearsals give campers the opportunity to improve skills and be part of the excitement of a drama production. A culminating stage performance for family and friends is the grand finale that makes this camp a great combination of skill building and fun. Campers swim at an MCRD pool twice per week and have one field trip each session. Each child must bring a bag lunch. Onsite morning and afternoon extended care is available for an additional fee. Ages 5 - 8: This versatile week-long dance camp allows campers to explore a variety of styles including ballet, tap, and jazz/hip hop dance. Along with daily technique classes, campers will enjoy learning new skills, improving dance technique, and the finale performance showcasing a routine they will learn throughout the week. Ages 7 - 12: Here's an exciting opportunity for aspiring musical theatre artists. We'll create an original musical and explore the camaraderie of the ensemble spirit and other music theatre skills while developing individual creative talent. Exposure to acting and performance skills, music coaching, as well as costumes, props, make up and sets. We'll put it all together in a final performance. Limited space so register early. Ages 5 - 8: This week-long high energy dance camp is a fun way for students to spend their summer. Campers will explore a variety of fun hip-hop styles and learn basic steps in rhythmic tap dance. In a finale performance, campers have an opportunity to fuse the styles to the latest music and choreography. Ages 5 - 10: Are we in Mexico? You would think you were with all the fun Mexican crafts, games, sports and music. Create your own mask, pinata, sombrero, maracas and much more! All in Spanish! !Vamos Amigos! Bring a bagged lunch, sunscreen and a hat. Bring your bathing suit each day for water fun. Ages 7 - 12: Go with us on an extrodinary mission to find the different instrument families. Orbit from station to station as we explore piano, guitar, violin, percussion and other instruments. Music history, theory, ensemble, sining and games included each day with recorder. Sessions are led by the International School of Music Faculty. Please bring snack and lunch each day. Ages 5-12: Here's something to sing about! Spend your summer in musical bliss and discover just how many fun and exciting activities you can tune into! You'll have time each day to find your inner rhythm as you enjoy singing and choir, exploring different instruments, discovering new dances and dance moves, playing the piano and more! Each day will include special activities, outdoor play and time to practice for a Musical Showcase at the end of each session. This is a fun program that will enrich and entertain children at all levels of musical expression. Children will be grouped by age and ability. Make a note to register today! Ages 6 - 12: Kids love to draw animals and we all love our pets! Our students will be elated as we celebrate our cuddly friends. We will be drawing fish and horses and many other scaly, furry, or feathery friends! We will explore their playful side with amusing cartoon images as well as creating more realistic renderings, using pencils, colored pencils, Sharpies?, and markers. Please wear an old shirt or smock on the last day when we will create a wonderful pet-inspired chalk pastel illustration. All supplies are included! Ages 6-8: Does your child love arts and crafts? Then this is the perfect camp for them! Each day we will create inspired artwork learning new skills and working with exciting media. We will balance out our day with fun games, stories and exploration. As a grand finale, campers will proudly display their creativity at an art show for friends and family. Campers swim at a MCRD pool twice per week and have a field trip during the first three sessions. Each child must bring a bag lunch.
