Germantown Park
Focused Neighborhood Assistance Project

Previously known as Cinnamon Woods, this project took place over a 4-year period following the housing market crash of late 2007 that left HOA communities, including many in Montgomery County, with depleted reserve fund balances needed to complete standard maintenance projects.  As a result, Neighborhood Revitalization partnered with the Cinnamon Woods HOA to assist 122 income-eligible homeowners with much needed exterior renovations including new siding, fencing, sheds, storm doors, fresh paint and new, energy efficient LED streetlights.

A Community Reserve Study was also completed to assist with financial planning strategies to fund future maintenance projects. DHCA’s non-profit partner, Montgomery Housing Partnership (MHP), organized theatre production activities at the Black Rock Arts Center and a Green Club Environmental Program to positively address community concerns about unsupervised youth.

The Cinnamon Woods FNA project received awards of Merit and Excellence in Program Innovation from the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) and an Outstanding Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo).
