Lease Summary

Effective March 13, 2017, the following Lease Summary is required by Chapter 29-27(w) of the Montgomery County Code (MCC). It presents key terms of the lease and summarizes tenant rights and responsibilities, and provides information about services available to tenants from the Montgomery County Department of Housing and Community Affairs.

    Effective March 13, 2017, licensed landlords in Montgomery County are required to attach the following Lease Summary to each new lease.

Sample Leases

The Montgomery County Office of Landlord-Tenant Affairs (Landlord-Tenant) is happy to provide, free of charge, model leases that you can use for your rental properties. These leases comply with all applicable State and County landlord-tenant laws and we encourage you to use them to protect the tenant’s as well as the landlord’s rights.

  • Single-Family  (English, Spanish)*

If you are a licensed landlord and would like this Department to run a credit check on a prospective tenant for a small fee, you MUST use this application:

  • Rental Application
    Must be used by landlord to access credit checks provided through the Licensing Unit

Lead Paint Information

If your property was constructed prior to 1978, this information MUST be included with your lease agreement. If your property was constructed prior to 1950, you must do lead testing between each tenancy. You should check with the Licensing unit for more detailed information.
