The Senior SmarTrip® card is for customers age 65 and older.
Use this card to pay senior fares on
Seniors should tap the farebox with your Senior SmarTrip® card. The farebox software has been updated to not deduct fare within the County.
To use WMATA express buses at all times, you must have value loaded on your card. See locations for loading value.
The cost of the Senior SmarTrip card is free starting January 16th, 2024. There is no value on the card at the time of purchase.
US citizenship is not required.
Add your plastic SmarTrip card to your SmarTrip account through the web or via the SmarTrip app, find the card, and choose "Transfer Card to Google Pay.” Make sure your phone's NFC is enabled.
