Voting Operations Judges (VOP and SPN) assist voters at multiple voting stations. They use the electronic pollbooks to check-in registered voters and print reports, issue ballots, offer instruction and/or assistance at the voting equipment, and monitor voter flow throughout the polling place. VOP’s may serve at different voting stations in the course of a day. One VOP bilingual in Spanish is required per polling place. Election Judges bilingual in other languages (for example Chinese, French, Korean, Spanish or Vietnamese) may also be assigned, based on the specific needs of the polling place. Responsibilities:

  • Work as a team to set up the polling place the evening prior to the election day
  • Check in voters at the electronic pollbook
  • Issue ballots to voters
  • Guide voters to the voting area and, provide instructions on use of election equipment and/or provide assistance if requested
  • Work as a team to close the polling place and prepare the materials and documentation to be returned to the Board of Elections
  • Rotate to other duties and assist as directed by the Chief Judges

Requirements:
  • Complete all required training
  • Able to speak clearly, listen well and to be friendly and welcoming
  • Able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to follow procedures; written and verbal instructions
  • Attend the mandatory pre-election meeting/set-up at the polling place the evening prior to election day


Election Day Payment:          $250.00                      Training Payment:     $50.00
* Election judges who previously served as an Election Judge in the 2022 election cycle or earlier will receive a $100.00 bonus for each Election Day and/or each Early Voting Day served during the 2024 elections. ($50 is the bonus for half-day shifts.) .

Election Day Hours:              6:00 am – to closing (approximately 11:00 pm)
