Lesley MacDonald joined the City of Gaithersburg to oversee financial empowerment programs in May 2022.

Previously Lesley served as the Executive Director of Nonprofit Montgomery, an alliance of nonprofits serving Montgomery County. At Nonprofit Montgomery Lesley built nonprofit capacity through programs on financial management, evaluation, and nonprofit management. She advocated for the nonprofit sector with County government and other stakeholders and participated in numerous Boards and collective efforts to improve service delivery and quality of life in Montgomery County.

Lesley has over 25 years of experience in philanthropy through positions in local United Way organizations and a community foundation.

She earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a concentration in public policy from the University Of Connecticut School Of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hampshire College in Amherst, MA.
