Defective Merchandise
Have you ever purchased a product from a store and when you try to use the item you find that it is defective? What are your rights? Are you stuck paying for a product that does not work?
No matter what a store's return policy is, products purchased both new and used in Maryland are covered by an implied warranty.
- An implied warranty requires that the product be in working condition at the time of sale and continue to work for a reasonable time after the purchase.
- If a product is purchased and does not work for a reasonable time you can return the product, regardless of the store's return policy.
- If the merchant or manufacturer is not willing to repair, replace, or refund your money, file a complaint with our office.
