Recognizing November as Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month













November marks Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, a time to bring attention to the impact of Alzheimer’s on individuals, families, and communities nationwide. With over 6 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s, this month is an opportunity to learn more about early detection, care options, and support resources.

National Resources

  • Alzheimer’s Association: Provides information on Alzheimer’s research, caregiving, support groups, and resources for patients and families. alz.org
  • National Institute on Aging (NIA): Offers research-based information on Alzheimer’s disease, treatment, and care options, as well as resources for caregivers. nia.nih.gov
  • Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA): Provides support services, including a helpline and educational materials, as well as free memory screenings. alzfdn.org

  • Alzheimer’s Association National Capital Area Chapter: Serves Montgomery County with in-person and virtual support groups, educational workshops, and a 24/7 helpline at 1-800-272-3900. alz.org/nca

Drone As A First Responder

The Montgomery County Police Department's Drone as First Responder (DFR) Program is dedicated to enhancing public safety by offering air support for 911 and police calls. This innovative program aims to improve response times, optimize resource use, and deliver real-time information to officers, aiding in better decision-making and incident de-escalation. Additionally, the DFR program plays a crucial role in locating and apprehending criminal suspects, ensuring a safer community for all.
