Safety Alliance
Developed and led by Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services Division of Licensure, Regulation and Education, the Safety Alliance is a network of stakeholders working with businesses licensed to sell or serve alcohol. Members include law enforcement, regulatory and code enforcement agencies, outreach agencies, licensed establishments, community groups, and others as needed. Safety Alliance members collaborate and share resources to promote effective regulation of dining, entertainment, and special events to ensure public health, safety, and quality of life. The Safety Alliance also educates businesses about their roles and responsibilities as valued members of the community.
The Montgomery County Safety Alliance was developed in 2004 from the Responsible Hospitality Institute (RHI) national model.
Still relevant today, this long-standing and award-winning network served as an invaluable resource during the Covid-19 public health emergency. Teams of inspectors and outreach workers from multiple agencies visited establishments in the major entertainment areas of Bethesda, North Bethesda, Gaithersburg, Rockville, and Silver Spring to provide information about changing requirements. Teams provided posters, signs, flashlights, wrist bands and other materials to help businesses comply with County and State mandates. When necessary, inspectors and police officers issued violations and civil citations.
The Safety Alliance plans to meet quarterly to network, discuss relevant code enforcement education, and collaborate with community members. For questions, reach out to Roddy Aguirre at 240-777-6657 or via email at [email protected].
