Division of Government Operations
Attorneys in this division act as counsel for, and provide legal advice to, a wide array of agencies including: the Office of Public Information, the Office of Intergovernmental Relations, the County Charter Review Commission, the Community Engagement Cluster, the County Council, the Merit System Protection Board, the Supervisor of Elections, the Animal Matters Hearing Board, the Human Rights Commission, the Office of Consumer Protection, the Board of License Commissioners, and the Board of Appeals. Attorneys in this division also represent the County’s interests before the State Public Service Commission. Finally, attorneys in this division also provide advice on a variety of issues generally involving the functioning of the County government, such as the Maryland Public Information Act, the Maryland Open Meetings Act, the County’s Ethics Law, State and County legislation, formal County Attorney opinions, and publication of the County Code.
