As Chair of the Education & Culture Committee, I focus on issues relating to Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), Montgomery College, Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL), adult literacy, the arts, and culture, and community facilities.

Since elected in 2018, I have:

• Met regularly with leadership in education to advocate for students' needs;
• Hosted over 100 virtual storytimes for kids during the pandemic;
• Visited all 22 libraries across the County, learning how to better support these crucial community centers; and
• Funded afterschool youth & development programs, restorative justice trainings in schools, Safer Routes to School, and more.

I am also hosting an Education Listening Tour across the County to hear directly from students, staff, and parents on how to better support public education.  Learn more about my work below.

As a civil rights attorney and housing advocate, I have prioritized protecting and preserving housing as a human right. On the Planning, Housing, and Parks Committee, I focus on issues relating to county master plans (blueprints for community development) and amendments to the zoning laws, parks, and recreation. The Committee receives briefings regularly from the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) and the Montgomery County Planning Board.

Since 2018, I have:

• Spearheaded the passage of permanent rent stabilization;
• Advocated for fair regulations in shared economies; and
• Expanded tenant protections;
