About Will

Councilmember Will Jawando is an attorney, activist, and community leader with a lifelong dedication to public service. His career has been crafted by a unique combination of grit, compassion, and integrity. Born in Silver Spring, Maryland to a Nigerian father and white Kansan mother, Will’s bi-racial identity gave him an appreciation for the varied experiences life in America can bring. Raised in a low-income household, he was determined to secure a successful future for himself through the pathway of education.

Council Public Hearings and Sessions
The Council will hold public hearings on the FY25 Operating Budget on Monday, April 8 and Tuesday, April 9. Find details here.

Educaion Budget Forums
For the second consecutive year, Chair Jawando is hosting public forums to hear from county residents like you about your priorities and questions about county funding for education. 

Hear from Dr. Jermaine F. Williams, President of Montgomery College, and Dr. Monique Felder, the Interim Superintendent for MCPS, about the needs and priorities of their programs.
