Sign requirements for homeowners and lawn pesticide applications

The State of Maryland and Montgomery County require signage to be posted after the application of a pesticide to a lawn.

Immediately after application of a pesticide, post signs within or along the perimeter where pesticides have been applied, and leave them in place for 48 hours.

The standard State and County approved sign shall include this image on the front:

Caution - Pesticide Application - Keep off - Customer: please remove after 48 hours

We recommend that if you use an organic pesticide, you write “organic” or put a green sticker on the front of the sign, to avoid concerns or false reporting.
