In case of severe weather, all Holds to Go appointments will be cancelled & all items will be held for 5 days. You may reschedule online or by calling the library. Continue to check the library’s website for the latest updates.

Place items on hold via our website or by calling the branch and choose a pickup location. You will need your library card number to place items on hold.
You will receive notification via email, phone, or text when your holds are available for a scheduled pickup.
After you receive notification, please complete this form or call your pickup library to schedule your pickup appointment as soon as possible. After 5 days, the hold will be removed from your account. You will need your library card number to schedule your pickup appointment.
On the day of your appointment staff will check items out to the library card account you provided.
Bags with your name and pickup time will be on a table inside the branch vestibule or just outside the front doors, depending on the branch. Only one person may enter the vestibule at a time to maintain social distance. You must wear a mask when picking up your hold.

You must book an appointment at the branch of your choice either online or via phone. The service is offered each open day from one hour after opening to half an hour before closing.
No. Please make only one appointment. All holds available at the time your order is prepared for pick up will be included.
Anyone who has an active Montgomery County Public Library card. If you do not have a library card, apply for a Digital Library card for free, online on our website!
You may have up to 100 hold requests on your account until further notice.
Yes, the Marina/Interlibrary Loan service is available.
You can reserve items online or over the phone. Requests are limited to 100 items per customer at a time. There is no fee for this service. Once your holds are available, you will be notified by e-mail, text, or phone based on your account preference. You will have 10 days to pick up your holds
Yes. The customer should call or schedule a pick-up appointment online with that account information for whom the materials are on hold for. When scheduling the appointment include the name of the designated person to pick up the holds.
We can suspend your holds until you are ready. Provide our staff with the date on which you’d like the suspension to begin and end.
No. Until further notice, the hold non-pickup fee is temporarily suspended.
Yes. Customers can place holds on materials via phone or online. Depending on your account preference, you will receive an e-mail, text, or voicemail notification stating that your holds are available to be picked up. After you receive verification, call or book an appointment online to pick up your holds at your preferred location.
Please try to adhere to your appointment time. If you miss your time slot (or anticipate missing it), please call your branch to let staff know and reschedule. If you do not pick up your items within 5 business days, they will be removed from your account.
Yes. At this time, we are requiring all customers wear masks when picking up holds. Staff will also be wearing appropriate PPE at all times.
You may return your materials 24/7 via the outside book drop. Please allow up to 4 days for library materials to be safely returned and removed from your account.
While we appreciate your donations, please do not bring them to the library at this time. The Friends of the Library Montgomery County Rockville Bookstore is accepting donations. Please check their website for more information.
