Excel Beyond The Bell (EBB) Elementary
Excel Beyond the Bell Elementary is a comprehensive, high-quality after-school program that provides opportunities for academic and recreational enrichment, in an environment that stimulates learning and harnesses the power of play. This program has been designed to remove barriers to participation and promote pathways to student success.
Montgomery County Recreation, Montgomery County Public Schools, Montgomery County Collaboration Council for Children Youth and Families, and Action In Montgomery have partnered to create this program as part of the Excel Beyond the Bell (EBB) initiative.
Excel Beyond the Bell Elementary participants power up with a healthy, hot meal before diving into activities that stimulate creativity and grow confidence. Using proven curricula and community organizing, EBB Elementary's certified teachers and recreation professionals transform school environments to meet the needs of students and families.

In 2016, after learning more about how Montgomery County students spend their out-of-school time, community members rallied to create Child First. Child First is a parent-organizing movement with the goal of bringing innovative after-school programs into our ever-changing local communities. This program is the result of transforming community dreams into action.
There is no cost to participate in EBB Elementary. This program aims to level the playing field by bringing high-quality after-school activities to students and their families for no fee. As a creative alternative to a financial commitment, parents of participants are required to invest two hours per month in their school community.

Students who attend EBB schools can participate. At EBB Elementary, we understand that high-quality after-school activities are important for all young people, but we only have room for 120 students at this time. Since space is limited, registration opens first to students who need a little academic boost. If you attend a participating school and did not get into the program on your first try, we highly encourage you to reach out to your school and get your name on the waiting list.
