RecXtra
…But before we put the RecXtra programs in place, we got to know each school, its administration, and the student body so we could create customized programs to fit each site.
RecXtra gives students the opportunity to learn skills that aren’t covered during the school day. It gives them the chance to discover new opportunities that they might not typically find in their community or education. It allows them to meet students with whom they normally don’t cross paths, and spend time with teachers outside of the academic setting. Students can learn more about who they are, who they want to be and how to make the choices to get there. At RecXtra, they will learn useful skills and make new friends along the way.
Montgomery County Recreation's RecXtra program works cooperatively with several middle schools in the County to create exciting after-school activities that make school a more exciting place to be.
Any student at a partnering middle school. Check below for a list of RecXtra schools.
Depending on your school, RecXtra offers a variety of activities including sports, arts, baby-sitting instruction, chess, improv theatre, sewing, dancing, tennis, weight training, poms, cooking, yoga and mentoring. Get in touch with your After School Activities Coordinator to learn which activities are offered at your school.
That depends on which school you attend. RecXtra is offered three days a week, after school. Find your school in the list below to find more details about days and times.
