Closing Date: December 31, 2024 The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is currently recruiting for Deputy Sheriff. This recruitment will be used to fill positions beginning in January 2024. The work of a Deputy Sheriff involves performing regulatory and law enforcement duties to protect the lives and property of Montgomery County residents. Deputy Sheriff's work varying shifts to include split shifts, evenings and midnights and may be called upon to work weekends and holidays. Deputies must also be available for periodic overnight trips and can travel by air, when necessary, to return inmates to and from other states. The work environment of a Deputy Sheriff is divided between field work (serving civil process papers, transporting prisoners and citizens, returning prisoners from out of County/State and maintaining custody of prisoners in a small detention setting) and time spent in a courtroom providing prisoner and courtroom security. Prior to becoming a sworn deputy sheriff, deputy sheriff candidates are responsible for attending and successfully completing an extended curriculum of instruction that prepares an employee to work in any one of a variety of assignments in the Office of the Montgomery County Sheriff. A Deputy Sheriff Candidate receives a comprehensive, six (6) months of training through a recruit training program. TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, applicants must satisfy the following requirements: 1. MUST BE 21 YEARS OF AGE AT THE TIME OF OBTAINING SWORN DEPUTY SHERIFF STATUS (Completion of the training academy) 2. HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION DIPLOMA OR GED EQUIVALENT 3. Preferred Criteria | ||
There are no preferred criteria. All applicants who meet minimum qualifications confirmed by OHR will be scheduled for a written examination. Based on the results of the written examination, applications will be rated " Eligible -Well Qualified", "Qualified " or "Did Not Pass." The highest rated applicants will be placed on the Eligible List and may be considered for interview. |
