Watershed Restoration Home

We are the lead agency in Montgomery County, Md., dedicated to improving stream health and water quality by fostering strong partnerships with communities to clean our water, and restoring natural ecosystems through innovative watershed planning and design.

Water Restoration Projects

Watershed restoration work performed in the County is implemented to improve water quality under the guidelines set by the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) issued through a federal "MS4" permit and is funded primarily through the County's water quality protection charge (WQPC)--the lynchpin that makes the County’s comprehensive stormwater management program one of the best in the nation. To illustrate our restoration efforts, we developed an interactive map for residents to learn more about the County’s past restoration work.
