The White Flint West project provides for final design for all the projects included in the White Flint West Workaround (CIP No. 501506). Also included is the design, construction and utility relocation for Rockville Pike (MD 355) from Flanders Avenue to Hubbard Drive. The Rockville Pike design will be coordinated with the implementation of the Rapid Transit System.

Budget

The final design for the White Flint West Workaround projects will be completed in FY17. The design for Rockville Pike will start in FY20 and completed in FY21. Construction for Rockville Pike (MD 355) will start in FY22 and be completed in the years beyond FY22.

Underground Utility relocations and system upgrades are underway and will be completed by mid-Summer 2019.

  • The roadway work including the realignment of the intersection at Old Georgetown Road and Executive Boulevard will start in Spring 2019. Construction will continue thru Spring 2022.
  • This construction will impact the traveling public, both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. There will be flagger operations as well as detours set up.
