Fire Alarm Corporate License License Process
Inspection, maintenance, and testing of fire alarm systems in Montgomery County requires a license from the Montgomery County Division of Fire Prevention and Code Compliance. Each corporate license must have a Designated Qualified Individual (DQI) to act as the qualified liaison between the contractor and DPS.
The applicant must submit the completed application along with the required fee, a completed Designated Qualified Individual section, DQI qualifying documents, and a signed affidavit.
A license may be revoked or suspended for the following:
• Violations of code
• False statements or misrepresentations on your application for a license
• Work performed in an unsafe manner
• Failure to abide by the signed affidavit
• Failure to notify the Fire Marshal’s office of a change of address or DQI within 10 business days
Failure to submit the required items will result in the rejection of your application.
The corporate license, and all individual licenses associated with the corporate license, will be invalidated until a new DQI is approved under the corporate license.
The reason for the disapproval will be noted on the application by the reviewer. The most common reason for disapproval is lack of qualifying documents. The applicant may re-apply at any time.
Please see our fee schedule for information regarding the cost of the license. The license is valid for 2 years from the date of issue.
