Sewage Sludge Utilization License License & Inspection Process
The purpose of the Sewage Sludge Utilization License is to ensure protection of the public health and ground water by requiring that all septage haulers properly handle and dispose of all septic waste.
A Sewage Sludge Utilization License must be obtained by any person or company engaged in the business of cleaning and emptying septic tanks, holding tanks, privies or other sewage disposal facilities.
A non-refundable license fee must accompany the application package at submittal. Please refer to the current fee regulation for more information regarding fees associated with this permit process.
All licenses expire on February 1st of each calendar year, regardless of when they were issued during the preceding year.
Once an application has been approved, a waste discharge location has been authorized, and a satisfactory truck inspection has been completed, the permit will be issued. Permit processing time is usually one to two weeks, depending on work load.
