How it Works

Permits must be applied for via paper application. You may submit in person at DPS offices during normal business hours or by mail. A non-refundable permit fee must be paid at application. Acceptable methods of payment are credit card, check and cash. Cash and credit card is only accepted if paid in person. All Applicants (new & existing) must first contact Mike Scheffel at Mike.Scheffel@montgomerycountymd.gov with the Office of Agricultural (OAG) for a certification review before submitting their application to DPS.

How it Works

• Regionally-grown products are those produced within Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia.
• A Certified Agricultural Producer, or representative thereof, may sell only fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, cut flowers, small trees, or plants, which he or she has produced. A Certified Agricultural Producer may also sell non-potentially-hazardous prepackaged goods (including eggs), with the approval of the Licensure and Regulatory Services Section of the Department of Health and Human Services (240) 777-3986
• Regionally-grown products may be sold only by a Certified Agricultural Producer or representative thereof

How it Works

All Applicants (new & existing) must first contact Mike Scheffel at Mike.Scheffel@montgomerycountymd.gov with the OAG for a certification review before submitting their application to DPS. Once your information is submitted DPS personnel will begin the review process. Upon discovery of errors, omissions or non-compliant information the project is returned to the applicant so that the necessary corrections can be made and the information resubmitted to DPS. Once the review is completed the project is forward to a DPS permit technician for permit issuance. The normal processing time is two days for a complete application submission.
