Cherry Hill Road Bikeway Project

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) has started a project to design and construct high priority bicycle and pedestrian improvements in compliance with the master plan. The project will also include streetscape improvements for pedestrian/ADA access, transit access, roadway/pavement, parking (when applicable), drainage, stormwater management, traffic signals, signing and marking, plantings, and lighting.

The Cherry Hill Road corridor spans 1.5 miles, from Old Columbia Pike to the Prince George’s County Line. It is a four-lane road with marked bicycle lanes in both directions and a two-way center left turn lane. The Montgomery County Bicycle Master Plan recommends constructing two-way separated bike lanes, also known as a cycle track, along the south side of Cherry Hill Road.

Project Schedule

The Cherry Hill Road Bikeway project is currently in the beginning stages of design, and MCDOT is working to advance the design to 30%.

Feedback

A virtual public meeting for the Cherry Hill Road Bikeway project was held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., to present three project concepts, one of which will be advanced to 30% design, as well as obtain community input and answer questions.

The County welcomes your feedback. Public input adds to the success of any public infrastructure project as it allows the County to understand the concerns of the community. Your input is important!
