Montgomery County, MD - - Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett, County Council President Nancy Navarro, Councilmember Phil Andrews and Fire Chief Steven Lohr will join Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad President Tom Brown and Chief Allan Platky for the official dedication and grand opening ceremonies of the new Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad (WVRS) located at 2400 Arcola Avenue. The WVRS was formed in 1955 and the newly constructed station replaces the existing one located at 11435 Grandview Avenue in Wheaton.
The ceremony will be followed by a reception with light refreshments and tours of the new facility. The 29,000 foot facility includes a 250-seat community hall and will strengthen critical emergency services to the residents of Montgomery County.
Parking will be available on-site with overflow parking across the street in the Wheaton Library Parking Lot. Please follow police direction.
