Two-Alarm Fire in North Bethesda Causes One Million in Damages

Montgomery County, MD- - Units from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service were dispatched shortly after six o’clock this morning to 11801 Nebel Street, North Bethesda for the report of an auto on fire in a commercial garage. Units arrived on the scene with heavy fire showing and requested additional units. A second alarm was dispatched about 6:17 a.m.

Incident command reported that the fire originated in a multiple bay garage of the Washington Gas Fleet and Dispatch Facility and extended into the tire storage area of the repair shop. The fire was contained to the garage area and was brought under control about 7:50 a.m. There were no reported injuries and over 75 firefighters were on the scene at the height of firefighting operations.

Fire investigators have ruled the fire accidental/undetermined. Damage estimates are $500,000 to the contents and $500,000 to the structure.
