Learn Hands-Only CPR and Save a Life (EspaƱol)
Hands-Only CPR focuses on the first few minutes following a cardiac arrest. A person’s chances of surviving a sudden cardiac arrest decreases by 10 percent every minute the brain is starved of oxygen. Bystander CPR can make all the difference in survival. MCFRS is excited to be adding several new training and awareness programs. These programs are provided at no cost to the community and are designed to train the public how to help before first responders arrive on the scene. The courses are for general awareness training and do not provide any certification, recertification, or license.
Call 911 (or send someone to call) and Push hard and fast in the center of the chest until help arrives.

Be prepared in the event of an emergency! Hands-only CPR is one of the most effective ways to treat someone having a possible cardiac arrest and can double or even triple the chances of their survival. MCFRS is teaching hands-only CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automated external defibrillation) awareness at events throughout Montgomery County with the goal to train as many people as possible to know this easy and life-saving skill that can be learned in as little as 10 minutes. Training does not provide certification, recertification or a license. Trainings are available at no cost to County residents and groups. For information, call 311.
MCFRS provides Opioid Overdose and Naloxone (Narcan) education and trainings in the community. Narcan can reverse an opioid overdose. The trainings teach what to do and what not to do in an overdose situation, calling 9-1-1 and how to administer Narcan and what to do afterwards. Trainings are available at no cost in the community. For information, call 311.
Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign that encourages bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help administer care to others in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. Citizens are often the first to arrive on a scene before 911 has ben called and first responders arrive. These critical moments can make the difference between life and death for individuals with critical injuries.
